Required for September 2025

The Learning Academy Partnership has an exciting opportunity for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our School Trust, based at St Michael’s C of E Academy in Paignton.
Working in close partnership with our community, we passionately believe that every child should be taught by expert, high quality teachers in an inspirational school that always puts children first. At St Michael’s, we pride ourselves on providing every child with a rich and engaging curriculum grounded in our Christian values. Our vision is: “The Future We Create Everyday”.
We want to ensure that every child achieves the very best they can by providing a happy, loving and nurturing environment where all children have the confidence to fulfil their hopes and aspirations, removing barriers to learning so every child can flourish.
Do you have a passion for languages or expertise in a different subject area that you could contribute and deliver teaching and learning across the school? We are looking for someone to join our teaching team who can add depth to our curriculum and enable our children to grow and flourish. There will be the opportunity to work across all our Year Groups in the school including our Early Years Foundation Stage. You will support and nurture the needs of our children with Special Educational Needs and be committed to making a profound difference to the lives of all our children.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who shares our values, working to ensure that we serve our children and communities to the best of our abilities. No day will be the same and you will work alongside a highly caring and compassionate team to support our most underserved families. We are looking for someone who is inspired by our Trust mission and can empower our children with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to flourish. A HLTA or Level 3 qualification would be an advantage.
Our Trust is dedicated to building an authentic workforce, so if you are excited about this role but your past experience looks a little different to what we’ve identified, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may just be the perfect candidate! We are proud that we are a single organisation with a shared responsibility for all children, and one where you will feel professionally nourished through our extensive development practice and strong wellbeing offer.
Our School Trust is underpinned by our four core beliefs; we are stronger together, a sense of belonging; removing barriers and realising the possible. This means that by working collectively, we can achieve our absolute best to ensure that children, especially the most vulnerable, can flourish.
We can offer you:
- The opportunity to make a profound difference to children’s lives
- An impactful People Strategy that enables us to nurture, develop and support our colleagues so that they can provide the very best for our children
- A culture that takes work-life balance extremely seriously for all its colleagues
- The chance to work as part of a collective in a values-led school Trust, a single organisation.
- High quality professional development and regular training to develop your knowledge and skills
- A strong, proactive wellbeing network across the school Trust
- The potential for future career development
- Access to a 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme
- Trust benefit schemes including Cycle and Tech schemes
- Generous Local Government Pension Scheme
All our schools are each at the centre of their local communities and celebrate their individuality and distinctiveness. A core feature in how we work as a School Trust is our collective approach in delivering an exceptional education for all children. We do this through working very closely together in mutual support and challenge to empower excellence for our children, families, and the communities that we serve.
In short, our ethos is one of working together to Empower, Excel, Together.
We want to support you in deciding if we are a School Trust that you would like to join. We recommend that you arrange a visit or virtual call so that you can better understand if we are an organisation which excites you and can support you to flourish. Please contact Julie Edwards – Telephone 01803 500971 or email stmichaels@lapsw.org to arrange an appointment.
