This is Devon
We want Devon to be the best place to grow up, live well and prosper. We want to listen, learn, and improve, be curious and inclusive.
Our Strategic Vision focuses on how we will help the county to build on the resilience of local people and communities shown during the Covid 19 Pandemic to create a fairer, healthier, and more caring place, and grasp the opportunity to create a greener, more prosperous, and inclusive future for all.
This is the role
This is an exciting time to join DCC and be part of an ambitious programme that puts ‘People First’.
We are looking for someone to support our newly created role of Director of People & Culture. The creation of the Director of People & Culture role marks a shift in culture towards being more values based, purpose driven, and people centred, and reflects the importance of strategic workforce considerations at Board level.
You will provide strategic direction for HR and the wider organisation, whilst ensuring that HR approaches deliver the key outcomes of our new People Strategy. You will be part of an established and supportive HR Leadership team and manage a team of experienced HR staff. You will have impact, credibility, and the ability to influence decision making on all aspects of the Council’s service delivery to help shape our culture and workforce approach.
This is a rare opportunity to influence and drive significant change within the largest Local Authority in the Southwest and make a positive impact, not only for colleagues, but also for our communities in Devon.
