Head of Finance & Business - Marland School

  • Multiple Locations

  • £34,403 - £38,027 (actual salary)

Marland is a successful all age (KS1-4) special school for students with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH) Special Educational Needs (SEN). Currently, it is located across three sites; Peters Marland, Barnstaple and Bideford, with plans to expand to a fourth site within the next 18 months. This senior Finance & Business administration post is based at our residential school in Peters Marland (6 miles from Torrington) but will, under the Executive Principal, take the lead role for Finance & Business across the whole Marland organisation.

This is a great opportunity to take over and further progress this stable but expanding department from our current postholder who is leaving for new ventures after 6+ highly successful years. We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible qualified Finance professional with the appropriate expertise to lead this friendly, experienced Finance, HR and general Admin team.

Apart from the generous salary, other informal benefits currently include ongoing training / professional development opportunities, wellbeing & health support, free lunch / refreshments and a spacious single office with countryside views. Whilst this role will need to be based in school most of the time, partial flexi working opportunities may be considered by negotiation if beneficial for all parties. This role is predominantly school term time (39 weeks) plus an additional flexible 10 days during the school holidays to cover any necessary ongoing administration during these closure periods.

You will need to be highly confident and competent with financial matters and able to work flexibly and efficiently to deadlines. You will also be a skilled communicator who is good at motivating, leading and managing colleagues on a friendly, supportive basis. Experience and/or knowledge of school finance would be advantageous. There are no requirements to work with our students, however an understanding of, and/or sympathy with, children who have SEN / SEMH would be useful.

Please look on our detailed website for more background information about us.

For an informal discussion, please contact Keith Bennett, Executive Principal, at the school on 01805 601324.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This role requires a DBS disclosure.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
