Forest School Leader - Hazeldown School
- Multiple Locations
- Multiple Terms
- £15.33 - £16.93 per hour

The Governors are seeking an exceptional individual to take over the leadership of our Forest School Provision at Hazeldown School following the current postholder moving on to follow their ‘North Star’. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a strong and supportive staff team in a busy and popular school where Forest School has been an integral part of our curriculum for many years. The post is permanent and will enable the successful candidate to further develop both our provision and the site, bringing your own ideas and enthusiasm to move our offer on to the next level.
The start date is potentially flexible - between the beginning of term in September and by November 3rd at the latest. The hours are 28.33 hrs during core teaching time (8.40am – 3:15pm) with 8.75 hrs to be worked flexibly across the week, either before or after core teaching time.
You will prioritise building strong relationships and connections with both children and adults and will have the vision, passion and drive to achieve excellent outcomes for all pupils. You will model a positive outlook on a daily basis and will encourage all children to aspire and ‘dream big’.
The role will involve coordinating, planning and delivering a combination of a Forest School Curriculum alongside elements of our wider curriculum which lend themselves to the outdoor environment. Forest School is delivered on a whole class basis alongside our Forest School Assistant and, where required, additional teaching assistants. Being actively engaged in safeguarding, risk assessment and reflective practice is key, as is a passion for being in the outdoors in all weathers. A half day a week is provided for planning and preparation alongside our Forest School Assistant.
You will be passionate about the outdoors and the wider learning which can be achieved within that environment. You will be able to engage and inspire children of all ages from our Pre-School to Year six, including those with additional needs as part of our inclusive approach.
You may be coming to this role from either a school background having previously been a teacher or HLTA, or from an outdoors or Forest School based background. You will either hold, or be keen to gain, the Level Three Forest School Practitioner qualification, as well as a relevant first aid qualification.
You will also:
- Be keen to engender a calm sense of support, nurture and care for our children.
- Have a passion for inspiring learners through exciting and innovative curriculum experiences.
- Have high aspirations, resilience and determination to ensure our provision is of the highest standard.
- Be motivated and be keen to be part of the wider team across the school.
- Have a desire to develop their own skills and career progression and be part of the whole life of the school.
- Be flexible and adaptable to be able to meet the varied needs of our children.
- Be a positive role model for the children.
- Be committed to raising attainment and improving outcomes for children.
Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged. Please come and see the school and talk in more depth about the role.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
