North Devon Salvation Army is a Christian Church seeking to live out the values of justice, mercy and faithfulness within our communities. We have physical centres in Barnstaple and Ilfracombe but our work extends to the other towns and villages within the wider area of North Devon.
Our Family Work has developed significantly in the last 3 years. In response to the deprivation experienced in North Devon, we have created ‘Welcome to the Village’ activities with the purpose of enabling and empowering families towards greater wellbeing.
We are now looking for an experienced family worker to further develop and deliver the strategy and programme to help families reach their potential.
You will either hold a nationally recognised qualification in family work, or, have equivalent strong practical experience of working with families; and have an in-depth understanding of the cultural and local pressures they face today. We will consider transferrable skills and experience if relevant. In order to be successful, you will additionally need to:
- Have a passion for transforming the lives of families experiencing deprivation
- Show compassion and provide practical support in a welcoming and non-judgemental way
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to convey information & advice to varying audiences
- Collaborate, influence and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, statutory agencies and community services
- Have a strong understanding of and experience in compliance and regulatory requirements relevant to family work
