The role:
As SENDCO, you will play a key role in ensuring all children receive the support they need to thrive. You will work closely with practitioners, parents/carers, and external professionals to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This is an in-ratio SENDCO role, combining direct work with children in the room alongside responsibility for coordinating and supporting SEND provision across the setting.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and oversee SEND provision across Busy Otters
- Support early identification of children with additional needs
- Implement and monitor the Assess–Plan–Do–Review process
- Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Support and advise staff on inclusive practice and strategies
- Work closely with parents/carers to support children’s development
- Liaise with external professionals (e.g. SALT, health visitors, SEND teams)
- Maintain accurate SEND records and support funding/EHCP processes
- Work alongside the Manager and committee to review SEND policy
What we're looking for:
We are looking for someone who is:
- Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification
- Level 3 SENCo qualification
- Experience working with children with SEND
- Good knowledge of the EYFS framework and SEND Code of Practice
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A commitment to inclusive, child-centred practice
- Experience supporting or mentoring staff
- Experience with referrals, funding or EHCP processes
