Sunflower Day Nursery at Courtenay Park is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Early Years Practitioner to join our team, providing high-quality care and education for children from birth to five years.

A positive, proactive and flexible approach is essential. We work as one team and value practitioners who see the nursery as a whole - noticing where support is needed, helping colleagues and taking initiative.
Hours:
We understand that one working pattern does not suit everyone. While our preference is to recruit a permanent, full-time practitioner working across five days, we are willing to consider some flexibility for the right candidate. This could include 38 contracted hours over four days (8am-6pm), a job-share arrangement, or a term-time-only contract working five days per week. We would be happy to discuss potential working arrangements with suitable applicants.
Your role:
- You will provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and educational care, building warm and secure relationships with children and developing a strong understanding of their individual personalities, interests, development and needs
- You will plan and provide engaging, age and stage appropriate play experiences and learning opportunities. Through meaningful interactions and factual observations, you will support and extend children's learning, identify appropriate next steps and contribute to children's online learning journals and developmental records. You will also work positively in partnership with parents and carers.
- Above all, the welfare, happiness and individual needs of our children must remain paramount. Practitioners are expected to be responsive to children's changing needs and adapt their approach and practice accordingly.
Training and qualifications:
- The successful candidate must hold a DfE recognised full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification. Applicants holding a relevant Level 2 qualification will be supported to work towards Level 3.
- Paediatric First Aid and safeguarding training are desirable; however, training can be provided. The successful candidate will receive a full induction alongside ongoing training and opportunities for continued professional development.
We are particularly looking for someone who is caring and nurturing, positive and proactive, reliable, hardworking, a strong team player, willing to take initiative and committed to putting children's needs at the heart of their practice.
