EHCP Amendment Officer - Torbay Council

The successful candidate for the above post will be the maternity cover for 1 year for a role in the SEND monitoring team. This team are responsible for the amending of Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs plans at both phase transfer and when necessary throughout a child or young person’s journey.
The successful candidate will work with parent/carers and young people with SEND, education providers, health and social care colleagues to ensure a quality EHCP amendment. Your role is to gather the assessments of others and write in a restorative manner, to champion the child or young person and work in co-produced way.
Experience of working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families and a good working knowledge of current SEND-related legislation and the SEND Code of Practice will be desirable. Knowledge of EHCP’s as documents will be essential. A key task will be ensuring that statutory timescales are met.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills will be essential, as will the ability to build and maintain strong and positive working relationships with families, schools and a range of other professionals.
