As a Newly Qualified Social Worker, you will be a valued member of our team and be at the heart of improving outcomes for children and families.

We are committed to promote a learning culture throughout all areas of the service and this is reflected within our ASYE programme to provide Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) with high quality support and learning and development opportunities.
About the role
The ASYE is in place to ensure that all Newly Qualified Social Workers receive dedicated, consistent, and effective support in their first year of practice, enabling them to approach their career in social work with confidence.
The 12-month programme (pro-rata) offers a positive introduction to social work with children in Devon and the profession in general.
Joining us as a Newly Qualified Social Worker is a chance to apply what you’ve learnt to real situations, alongside developing your skills and knowledge and your professional confidence and resilience. You will be supported to practice and develop key social work skills through a range of learning opportunities and experience.
What we can offer you
Devon’s highly rated and well established ASYE programme provides a supportive and bespoke learning environment to include a protected caseload in relation to numbers of children and type of work undertaken at the different stages of the ASYE. A specific ASYE induction, high quality reflective supervision, peer-reflective learning groups, one to one mentoring and a schedule of ASYE workshops.
Our values are grounded in the Restorative Practice approach with all our social care staff trained in Restorative Practice and motivational interviewing. Devon is committed to supporting their Social Workers to reach their full potential and we have a recently implemented a Career Progression Pathway where our staff will be encouraged and supported with this.
