Curriculum Manager - Marland Upper Secondary School

  • Multiple Locations
  • Full Time
  • TPS plus TLR2 £2,873 (pay award pending) plus SEN 1 or 2 Allowance (depending on experience)

Marland is a successful all age (KS1-4) special school for students with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It is currently located across three sites; Peters Marland, Barnstaple and Central Bideford and will be opening a new 'Upper Secondary Day School' (Yr9 - Yr11) in East of the Water, Bideford in April 2023 for 40 students. This management / teaching post will be based at this new school site and commence April 2023. Each school has its own Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher and middle management team, and each Head reports directly to the Executive Principal.

The overall Marland group of schools are currently graded as 'Good' by Ofsted Education, with the residential care provision separately judged to be 'Outstanding' by Ofsted Social Care inspectorate. Our overarching ethos is based around personalisation and meeting the needs of each individual child. We utilise 'THRIVE' based social and emotional development at the core of everything we do.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivational aspirant teacher / manager to join this new staff team led by an experienced Marland Headteacher and fully supported by the Marland organisation. This important middle management role has a teaching commitment and management time allocated. It reports to the Head and Assistant Head and works alongside a Learning Support Manager colleague. This is a great opportunity for an experienced teacher to step up and help senior colleagues to manage and lead the development of this new well resourced special school.

You will have the regular opportunity to liaise and network with peers at our other sites to assist their role. A good understanding of, and interest in, supporting the SEMH needs of our students are important attributes for all staff. You will have good communication and relationship building skills, including a focus on helping children to develop socially and emotionally. Applications are welcome from suitably qualified / experienced SEN and MAINSTREAM practitioners.

Training and ongoing professional development opportunities are offered to all staff, as are potential promotion opportunities due to the ongoing expansion of our popular schools.

Please visit www.marland-school.co.uk for further information about our school. You can also contact Mark Bithell, Upper Secondary School Headteacher Designate, for an informal discussion on 01805 601324.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
