The post is temporary, initially until March 2025.
The Cultural Development Officer will play a crucial role in the support of regeneration projects across Torridge over the next few years and the delivery of the Northern Devon Culture Strategy. There are a number of high-profile and impactful programmes under development which the Cultural Development Officer will be involved in, with the role involving both project development and implementation, along with the securing of external support and funding. Working with a range of local, regional and national organisations and stakeholders the successful officer will help to shape the face of culture in the region and how that positively impacts on the wellbeing and economic prosperity of the local community.
The post holder must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the cultural and creatives sector, as well as having experience within project management and creating positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The role will involve liaison with a wide range of other agencies and partners, including North Devon Council and the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, as well as cultural organisations from grassroots level upwards to Arts Council England (ACE). The Cultural Development Officer will act as project manager on a range of projects and so will need excellent organisational and communication skills.
