A permanent full-time case officer vacancie exists within the Court of Protection Team.
Devon County Council’s Court of Protection Team deal with people’s property and financial affairs where the person lacks the mental capacity to deal with their own affairs. In this we act under the direction of the Court of Protection and are supervised by the of the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG).
This is a significant responsibility, ensuring in this way that we protect the vulnerable people of Devon from financial abuse and exploitation.
The role includes dealing with all day-to-day aspects of people’s finances, submitting applications to the court in respect of new referrals, and attending safeguarding and best interest meetings.
It is an interesting and challenging role involving extensive contact with a variety of people and professionals from assorted backgrounds. We work in accordance with Local Authority Deputy standards which are actively monitored by the Office of the Public Guardian. Additionally, we are always required to act in the person’s best interests and adhere to the Mental Capacity Act Codes of Practice.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, self-motivated, well organised, has excellent communication skills and can manage a busy caseload.
The successful applicants must be prepared to undertake the Association of Public Authority Deputies Accreditation.
Travel within Devon will be required for this role.
