The Newcourt Community Association (NCA) is managed by an elected board of Trustees and appointed officers. The NCA exists to serve the community of Newcourt, as defined by the Newcourt Masterplan drawn up by Exeter City Council in 2010, and includes these housing areas: Great Woodcote Park, Greenacres, Holland Park, Old Rydon Ley, Old Rydon Lane (East), Regal Court, Rydon Lawns, Rydon Place, Seabrook Orchards, The Fairways, The Green and The Rydons.
Our vision as a community association is:
1. That Newcourt is great place to live.
2. To fully engage with and support all residents and understand the needs of the whole community.
3. To provide sustainable and up to date facilities through a Community Centre that is attractive, accessible, welcoming and appealing to all residents.
4. To grow and consolidate Newcourt as a vibrant community, and to encourage initiatives that help residents to flourish.
The NCA has financial and management responsibility for the Newcourt Community Centre, providing community activities, regular classes and room hire, through a dedicated management team.
As restrictions are lifted, the NCA is looking to refresh our approach and reinvigorate our offer to the community. The Community Engagement and Events Leader will play a key role in developing our community engagement strategy, events schedule and community group offer. This role will be critical in our mission to ensure that everyone in Newcourt has the opportunity to get involved, and strengthening our offer to vulnerable members of the community.
The postholder will work closely with the Charity Senior Manager as part of the team made up of the Senior Charity Manager and the Caretaker and Facilities manager to ensure that the activities and projects run by NCA for the benefit of local residents and organisations. This will include involvement with supporting activities in the Community Centre as well as elsewhere in the community.
The postholder will build close relationships with the Newcourt and Countess Wear Community Builder and work in partnership to understand the changing needs of the community, using an asset-based approach to community development.
The Community Engagement and Events Leader will be given a high degree of autonomy and will report to the Senior Charity Manager and a Lead Trustee . Due to the voluntary nature of the Trustees, the Trustees the postholder is working with will change periodically through the natural cycle of elections, resignations and retirements.
