Location: Exeter Youth Enquiry Service
Young Devon is one of a group of voluntary organisations providing the Community Connector role for Wellbeing Exeter. Community Connectors meet with the young person and talk with them about their life, interests and the barriers they face. It is the Community Connector’s role to understand what matters to a person and then to work alongside them to build on their interests and to help them find out what’s out there that can help them and that might enrich their life. For example, it might be about introducing people to social or exercise groups or activities to enable them to overcome loneliness or mental health worries or about helping people to access information, services and advice to deal with challenges they are facing.
Young People can access this vital service through their school, but Connectors will work with young people in a range of settings both in schools and in the community to increase engagement.
The role requires someone passionate about working with young people and experienced at building excellent relationships, which supports young people to better understand the issues they are experiencing.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference for young people. We are looking for creative and flexible people to help us develop this growing option for young people.
Young Devon is a youth work charity (1057949) who is actively committed to embracing diversity. We particularly welcome applications from minority groups as they are less well represented in our local team. Wheelchair access available.
Young Devon is committed to Safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable groups and all applicants who will or could have unsupervised access to these groups will complete the required checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
