Location: The Beacon Church of England (V.A.) Primary School, Exmouth
We require a Governance Professional to join our supportive and focused team, sharing in our commitment to excellence. You will be effective and efficient and show a willingness to make a significant contribution to the success of our school.
As clerk you will:
• Work closely with he Co-Chairs of Governors and the Headteacher to ensure the continued effectiveness of our successful Governing Board.
• Provide advice to the Governing Board and its members on governance, constitutional and procedural matters, ensuring the board meets its statutory requirements.
• Provide administrative support to the Governing Board, its committees and individual governors to facilitate effective and efficient meetings and strategic governance. To make a key contribution to ensuring a strong evidence base is provided for Ofsted/audit through an accurate record of Governing Board challenge, actions and decisions via concise and accurate minutes.
• Attend meetings for the Full Governing Board (Monday evenings at 18:00), Resources Committee (Wednesday evenings at 18:00) and Curriculum and Learning Committee (Tuesday evenings at 18:00). Meetings are held once every half-term for each of these bodies. There will also be one Pay Committee and one Admissions Committee meeting each year. We may be able to change the times to suit the right candidate. Across the year meetings are held both in person and remotely.
• Manage information effectively and in accordance with legal requirements, observing confidentiality where necessary.
• Facilitate and co-ordinate the induction process for new governors and promote governor training, succession planning and recruitment based on the skills required to fulfil the Governing Boards’ three key roles.
You must have respect for the Christian Vision and ethos of our Voluntary Aided church school.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
