Our Fostering North team are looking for a 1 x Full-time and 1 x Part-time Supervising Social Worker to oversee the placements of children and young people in North and Mid Devon. Do it for Devon
About the roles
1 x Full-time - 37 hours per week
1 x Part-time - 18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE)
As a Supervising Social Worker within our Fostering North & Mid team you will champion high standards of professional social work practice with a sound knowledge in fostering regulations and legal options available to children to be cared for by persons within their network.
Your role will include participating in unannounced visits, annual reviews, quality assurance and you will be confident in assisting in the delivery of training to prospective and existing foster carers.
As a advocate of restorative practice you will encourage a collaborative culture, where opportunities for reflection and learning are supported.

These roles will be based at our Barnstaple office with some provision to work from home, which can be discussed at interview.
Skills and Experience
- A social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
- Satisfactory completion of your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
- Experience of working within social care, including working in a multi-agency and court environment, with knowledge of fostering regulations
- A high-level of written and verbal communication skills*
- The ability to build effective professional relationships with children, families, and other professionals
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, models, and theories relevant to children’s social work
- Exceptional recording and planning skills
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a car*

Fostering, Supervision & Support in Devon
Our Fostering service plays an integral part in Devon County’s role as a corporate parent by ensuring that all placements for children and young people in Devon are safe, nurturing and thriving. Comprised of three teams, Exeter & East, North & Mid and South, our Fostering Service works with appropriate regard to National Minimum Standards for Fostering, Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011, and other relevant legislation to provide support, advice and supervision to foster carers throughout the county.
