Our Disabled Children’s Service is responsible for managing a wide range of statutory duties working passionately to improve the life chances of disabled children and young people. We work with families who need extra help or specialist support to look after their children and keep them safe. We are able to support children throughout their journey because we work across the full range of statutory work, including assessment, child in need, child protection, children in care and transition to adulthood planning. We work closely with agencies across health, education, care and community to promote great joined up planning in partnership with children, young people and their families to promote the best possible outcomes.
About the Role
As an Experienced Social Worker practitioner you will be familiar of working in a high pressurised environment, and understand the importance of providing our children and young people with good quality assessments, regular purposeful visits and access to the help and support they need now and in the future. The casework will be varied, and you will be working creatively to promote positive long-term change. You will model social work practice that is of a high standard and in line with statutory obligations as well as championing restorative practice.
About You
You will be an advocate for the children and young people you are working with, ensuring each child feels fully supported. You will need to have:
Your skills and experience will include:
- A social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
- Satisfactory completion of your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
- Experience working within social care, including working in a multi-agency and court environment
- A high-level of written and verbal communication skills*
- The ability to build effective professional relationships with children, families, and other professionals
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, models, and theories relevant to children’s social work
- Exceptional recording and planning skills
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a car*
