About the Role
Our Children & Families service works in a highly challenging, yet highly rewarding environment to manage child-in-need and child protection cases as well as cases in legal proceedings and looked after children.
Working together with children and their families, we use restorative practice to achieve positive long-term and sustainable outcomes for children, young people and their families. Building happier, healthier and safer environments for children and young people in Devon is at the heart of our service and to achieve this we develop supportive partnerships that encourage and empower children and families in unlocking their individual strengths and values.
Working closely with your skilled social work team, which includes family practitioners and business support to assist you in your duties, you will champion high standards of professional social work practice. You will be used to working at pace in a high pressurised working environment, to ensure no drift and delay for our families, with good quality assessments to ensure improved consistent outcomes for our children and young people.
About You
Advocating for the children and young people of Devon, you will be ensuring that each child has an active, up-to-date plan, as well as supporting young people as they transition to adulthood.
Your skills and experience will include:
- a social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
- satisfactory completion of your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
- experience working within social care, including working in a multi-agency and court environment
- a high-level of written and verbal communication skills*
- the ability to build effective professional relationships with children, families, and other professionals
- knowledge and understanding of the legislation, models, and theories relevant to children’s social work
- exceptional recording and planning skills
- a valid UK driving licence and access to a car*
