Make an impact where it matters the most - Children’s Social Work in Devon.
About Us
We're on an exciting and ambitious journey of cultural change. We're continuing to embed restorative practice and relational ways of working. We believe that for most families, the family home is the best place for children to live and thrive.
We're proud of our workforce and what we are achieving for children and families in Devon. Our social work teams are committed to providing the best service possible and are supported by our ambitious culture.
About the Role
Our Children & Families service works in a highly challenging, yet highly rewarding environment to manage child-in-need and child protection cases as well as cases in legal proceedings and looked after children.
Working together with children and their families, we use restorative practice to achieve positive long-term and sustainable outcomes for children, young people and their families. Building happier, healthier and safer environments for children and young people in Devon is at the heart of our service and to achieve this we develop supportive partnerships that encourage and empower children and families in unlocking their individual strengths and values.
As an Advanced Social Worker, you will have a smaller but more complex caseload, working alongside children and young people with a complexity of needs (including undertaking in depth assessments). You will work closely with your Team Manager to provide support with the day-to-day team operations, where you will demonstrate professional leadership of the team through supervision and mentoring, whilst sharing your knowledge and experience to contribute to an efficient and effective service to children and families in Devon.
About You
Advocating for the children and young people of Devon, you will model social work practice that is of a high standard and in line with statutory obligations. You will champion restorative practice and encourage a collaborative culture, where opportunities for reflection and learning are supported.
You will deliver on the job training, coaching, and mentoring to students, unqualified staff, and less experienced colleagues to develop their skills. You will evidence how pausing and reflecting can enable us to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children, young people, and their families
What’s in it for you?
In return for the vital contribution that you make, we have some fantastic employee benefits available, including:
- Up to £2,000 annual retention payment (£1,000 paid every six months).
- Generous annual leave.
- Free onsite parking.
- Employee Assistance for the times you may need some support and a variety of employee well-being services.
- Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
If you are looking to move to Devon, subject to qualifying conditions, we offer a generous relation allowance. There has never been a better time to make the move!
