Are you a practical person looking to use your skills to support the operation, maintenance and running of our charity headquarters? Do you want to play your part in the climate emergency by helping us become net zero carbon by 2030?
Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT) is Devon’s leading wildlife conservation charity, with over 36,000 members, 350 regular volunteers, 100 staff and 63 nature reserves. We are one of the larger locally based organisations that collectively make up The Wildlife Trusts. DWT has pioneered the reintroduction of beavers in England and the restoration of internationally rare habitats like Culm Grassland.
We are looking for a Caretaker to join our busy Facilities Team who oversee a wide range of work across the Trust including Operations, ICT, Health & Safety, Procurement and Environmental Management. You will have good practical skills to help us manage and maintain our operational headquarters, keeping the building operational, safe and well presented at all times.
This a unique opportunity to maintain Cricklepit Mill, our iconic grade II listed watermill, carrying out small routine maintenance tasks and working with contractors to ensure the building is well presented and maintained in line with our 10-year strategy and carbon reduction plan. You will be responsible for opening the building daily, and for carrying out regular duties including alarm tests, building inspections, vehicle maintenance and operational assistance. This role would suit a person with good practical maintenance skills and keen desire to be part of a team that works hard behind the scenes to support colleagues and operations across the trust.
In return for your hard work and dedication, you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days after 5 years’ service (pro rata);
• Agile working arrangements including home working;
• Flexitime system;
• Salary progression (subject to satisfactory performance);
• Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply);
• Death in Service cover;
• Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP);
• Cycle to work scheme;
• Training and development opportunities.
This post is contractually based at Cricklepit Mill.
We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and abilities who meet the essential criteria for this role. We are an inclusive organisation that is seeking to involve more diverse audiences in our work.
