The Engineering Design Group and Built Environments Team are looking for an enthusiastic Business Administration Apprentice to join the Gateway Team, providing essential administrative support to the Partnership Manager and the wider department.

The main role of the Business Administration Apprentice is to assist within the Gateway Team with five key elements:

  • the gathering and updating of project and programme information
  • the management of data in two database systems
  • the preparation of various reports from the database
  • the management of a Private Sector Partner
  • the monitoring and reporting of performance data relating to the directorate’s civil engineering framework contractors.

This is an essential administrative role which requires the post holder to take pride in attention to detail, independent working and the management of many tasks with competing priority. Full training will be provided on internal systems and processes so please give examples of your transferable skills in the general areas covered in the job description.

This apprenticeship role will give you the opportunity to learn a wide variety of office-based tasks touching on finance, project based work, databases, attending and chairing meetings and management of your own workload. This is a unique role requiring an individual prepared to take responsibility for their own work.

This post is based at County Hall in Exeter. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic the team is currently working from home and continued flexible working will be considered in this role.

This is a 20 month apprenticeship with a structured training programme working towards gaining Level 3 Business Administrator.

Alongside completing your apprenticeship qualification, you would also benefit from:-

  • Attendance on apprentice development sessions
  • Ongoing support and review on your progress
  • Opportunities to attend career events and promote the Authority.
  • Further training in line with your qualification and role, to help personal development

At the successful completion of your Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship, there will be the opportunity to apply for a permanent role within the Engineering Design Group. We are therefore looking for someone who can show a real aptitude for the role and a passion to learn more. You’ll be a real team player, ready to get stuck in, make the most of opportunities that come your way and thrive in a well-respected career. Good written and verbal skills are also important as you’ll be interacting with a range of people internally and externally on a daily basis.
