West Croft School is a large rapidly improved, maintained school and nursery in the beautiful town of Bideford.
West Croft provides education for approximately 480 children aged 2 – 11 from the Bideford area. We have an increasing cohort of children who have additional needs and the SEND department is busy and far-reaching.
The role will be to assist the SENDCo to ensure identified pupils and their families are helped to access the support they need.
The successful candidate will:
- Be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the 0-25 Team, including funding streams.
- Understand the importance of monitoring and ensuring progress for children with additional needs.
- Generate, monitor, record and report on the progress funding applications and agency referrals.
- Work alongside pupils and their families to support them through the challenges in their lives.
- Have an understanding of how to implement a Gradual Response to meet the identified needs of pupils with SEND.
- Have an understanding of the Early help process and how it can be used to facilitate support for families.
- Be able to liaise with external agencies to ensure that SEND needs are effectively supported.
- Have knowledge and understanding of the SEND code of Practice.
- Have good computer and literacy skills, ensuring that accurate and detailed records are kept of meetings with parents and outside agencies.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the school’s policies and procedures related to SEND, including the SEN Information Report and Inclusion policies.
