Location: Rushbrook Totnes but covering The Nichols Exeter and Abbey Rise Tavistock
Job Purpose:
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a management role. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team. The main aim of this role is to oversee a team providing replacement day care and support to individuals with Learning Disabilities and varying levels of need and dependency with a focus on promoting independence. You will create a varied range of person centred activities to stimulate and engage people. You will support the Day Service Manager in covering a staff team working across 3 units ensuring good quality of service is delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct supervisions and appraisals.
- Facilitate staff training and development, staying current with best practices.
- Assist staff with complex tasks.
- Continuously assess individuals' needs, respond to change and goal setting using IT systems.
- Monitor medication in accordance with the Medication Policy.
- Undertake and monitor staff and service risk assessments.
- Manage emergencies and report concerns appropriately.
- Safeguard vulnerable adults and report any safeguarding concerns.
- Contribute to and instigate meetings.
- Promote positive and cohesive working relationships.
- Organise rotas and manage the team's workload.
- Maintain professional relationships with other professionals, DCC representatives, carers, service users, and external agencies.
- Work within the service budget and resources.
- Respond to the physical and emotional challenges of working with individuals with unpredictable behaviours.
- Plan around service needs, staffing issues, and conflicting priorities.
- Encourage and support individuals to be as independent as possible.
- Respect and be sensitive to individual diversity.
- Ensure service delivery aligns with DCC policies and standards.
- Share good practices and challenge discrimination and exclusion.
- Represent the Authority professionally at all times.
- Undertake work-related travel as required.
