We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, professional and well organised individual to take on the role of Assistant Administrator and Clerk to Governors at St Giles on the Heath Primary School. You will be calm, flexible, cheerful, helpful, friendly and approachable with excellent communication skills. You will be expected to be the first point of contact for all visitors to the school. The roles are varied, busy and interesting as you will be responding to the day to day pressures of busy school life and the needs of staff, pupils, parents and governors.
You will need:
- excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- excellent IT skills (experience of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel is essential)
- to be personable, professional and welcoming to all visitors, pupils, parents and staff;
- to work effectively as part of a team;
- to maintain confidentiality at all times;
- to work well under pressure;
- a sense of humour!
Previous experience of working within a school environment with experience of SIMS is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
The role will involve routine administrative support, filing, dealing with incoming post, responding to emails and answering the telephone. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of the pupil database, booking school trips and training courses.
As Clerk to Governors you will provide advice to the governing board, its committees and individual governors to facilitate effective and efficient meetings by organising and attending meetings, provding the agenda and minuting the meeting.
You will manage information effectively and facilitate and co-ordinate the induction process for new governors and promote governor training.
The Clerk to Governor position reports to the Chair of Governors and the hours can be worked flexibly as required, there is no requirement to work set hours each week. Governor meetings normally take place after school at 4pm and 5:30pm depending on the committee. Meetings usually last between 1 and 2 hours.
