ARE YOU LOOKING TO GET SOME MEANINGFUL WORK EXPERIENCE IN DEVON?
Through our Work Experience Programme here at Devon County Council, we have an excellent opportunity for you to learn all about the world of work and working in the Public Sector.
We have several work experience opportunities within Adult Social Care and can discuss opportunities on an individual basis.
We are looking to offer work experience placements to those aged 16+ who want to find out more about a career in adult social care. We can offer placements within our reaching for independence teams. These placements are being offered to anyone looking to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy or Social Work.
The service is focused on enabling and aims to increase confidence and independence skills. This could be through accessing public transport and the local community, for social clubs and activities, and voluntary placements.
Individuals can also be supported to seek employment and training opportunities. Teaching independent living skills in using technology, for example, apps to help with learning a bus route or helping someone to learn domestic tasks. This team specialises in learning and physical disabilities.
We are happy to provide opportunities to people who are:
- Interested in Adult Social Care (Occupational Therapy or Social Work)

Work experience placements require 4-6 months’ notice. If you are interested in a work experience placement, please complete the expression of interest form as soon as you can to provide enough notice for the placement to be planned.
