Usual hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm with some hours worked flexibly to support Governor Meetings which take place during the evening or after school hours (approximately 40 hours per academic year).
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Georgeham Church of England (VC) Primary School for a flexible, motivated and committed School Administrator. You will provide financial, administrative and organisational support to the school and will be the first point of contact for visitors to the school. The post will also encompass the role of Clerk to Governors, a vital role that supports our Governing Board with administration, minute taking, advice and compliance oversight to ensure best practice and smooth running of school governance.
Georgeham Primary is a Church of England school serving the villages of Georgeham and Croyde and the surrounding hamlets. Our vision statement ‘Small School, Huge Horizons’ encapsulates the ethos of the school - we are a school that’s small enough for every child to feel nurtured and confident but big enough in ambition so that there’s no limit to what each can achieve. There are currently just over 90 children on roll, split between 4 classes, with an additional 20 children attending the school pre-school. The school was rated Good in its most recent Ofsted inspection in late 2019.
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate an effective, friendly and organised approach to administrative tasks and duties. You will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently and innovatively, with an attention to detail in the work you do, a keen interest in education and competency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, email and the Internet. You should have the skills to communicate with various people (staff, parents, governors, visitors to the school), handle budgets and manage clerical duties.
The role and work of the School Administrator and Clerk to Governors involves dealing with sensitive and confidential information and a range of tasks including:
• Daily administration;
• Admissions and attendance;
• Support for the school staff;
• Clerk to Governors - organising meetings, minute taking and advising the board.
You will be required to maintain the highest level of confidentiality in relation to all school matters. Experience of clerking or working as a school or business administrator is desirable.
We can offer you friendly and supportive staff, governors and parents, opportunities to develop your skills within the school and a dedicated and committed team. The position is full-time with some hours worked flexibly to support attendance at Governing Board meetings. We will consider applications from candidates seeking to work on a part time job share basis. Full training will be provided.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This role requires a DBS disclosure.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
