Rackenford C of E Primary School is a small rural school in the heart of the local community. It is part of a small federation along with Tiverton High School and Heathcoat Primary School. Sammy Crook is the Executive Head across the federation. Four years ago, the school began to welcome children and families who wanted to have a more flexible approach to learning, valuing the wider contributions to children’s education. We are so proud that we are able to be a fully inclusive school embracing all families in our community, those who wish to home educate their children for part of the time and those who wish for their children to attend school full time. Flexi schooling has brought us new families both locally and from far and wide, which has had a positive impact on the rise in pupil numbers on roll.
The school has fantastic children, a superb empowered staff and an active and supportive Parent Association (PTFA), who organise many excellent fundraising activities and events across the year. Each year, we also welcome trainee teachers from both Exeter and Plymouth Universities and also have several volunteers in school. We work closely with the Exeter Diocese and with our Parish Rector, who leads collective worship and weekly messy church sessions.
We are a good school, with a solid foundation and integrity. RPS celebrates and values children’s individuality, creativity, curiosity and imagination, with a child led approach to teaching and learning through play, investigations, loose parts and much more. We walk around our village each morning on the “Daily Mile” and volunteer in our local community. We are fortunate to be in the countryside where we can easily embrace learning outdoors. We want our children and staff to live by our values - to be authentic, kind, truthful and to be the best version of themselves.
We are a growing school across four classes. We are pleased to be offering a temporary post for maternity cover for the first half of the Autumn Term 2022.
