Devon County Council’s Sensory Team, in conjunction with Birmingham City University (BCU) is looking to take on an Assistant in order to join Devon County Council’s ‘Step In’ Apprenticeship Programme as an Apprentice Rehabilitation Officer for Visually Impaired People.
The Devon Sensory Team supports Adults with sight loss with rehabilitation, training, support and advice, via qualified Rehabilitation Officers for visual impairment.
Starting in February 2022, you will be employed by Devon County Council as an Assistant Rehabilitation Officer for Visually impaired people, on a fixed term contract, until September 2022 – prior to being engaged on an Apprenticeship contract to complete the 2-year Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) – FdSc Course offered by BCU, alongside the role of Assistant Rehabilitation Officer for Visually impaired people.

Working within the Adult Social Care service, you will be based mainly in Exeter but will travel around the county learning how sight loss can affect people and how new skills and techniques can be taught, in order to maintain independence and wellbeing.
